In South Africa, the High Commission meets the Togolese diaspora in Cape Town

A delegation from the High Commission of Togo in Pretoria, led by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Head of Mission, Mr. Kamala BIDIALOU, met on 8 February 2026 with members of the Togolese diaspora living in Cape Town, provincial capital of the Western Cape and legislative capital of the Republic of South Africa, on the side-lines of the International Conference “Investing in African Mining Indaba” taking place from 8 to 12 February 2026.

This meeting is part of the implementation of the High Commission’s annual work plan for the mobilization and engagement of Togolese nationals residing in South Africa and in the 11 other countries under its jurisdiction. The Togolese diaspora in Cape Town was briefed on several key points, the overall objectives of which are to: revitalize Togolese diaspora associations; mobilize diaspora networks; promote the Government’s incentive measures aimed at involving Togolese abroad in the development process of our beloved country, and encourage diaspora investment.

During the discussions, members of the diaspora raised certain grievances and difficulties they face, and emphasized the need to identify approaches to solving their concerns. Exchanges also focused on the contribution of the Togolese diaspora to the socio-economic development of our country. The Chargé d’Affaires placed particular emphasis on unity, solidarity, patriotism, and the defense of civic interests. He also invited his compatriots to scrupulously respect the laws of the host country.

The Head of Mission took the opportunity to reaffirm his full availability, as well as that of his collaborators, to undertake joint actions with the Bureau of the NONVISSILELE Association in Cape Town, with a view to strengthening ties and building trust between members of the diaspora and the High Commission.
The Head of Mission and his delegation expressed their gratitude to the Bureau of the NONVISSILELE Association in Cape Town, chaired by Mr. Agboka Koffi Francis SIAMENOU, as well as to all compatriots living in Cape Town, for the warm and fraternal welcome, the mobilization, and the fruitful exchanges during this meeting.
