On Tuesday 07 October 2025, the High Commission of Togo in Pretoria held a handover ceremony between the outgoing Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Head of Mission, Mr. John Dékalèga FINTAKPA LAMEGA, and his successor, Mr. Etienne Kamala BIDIALOU, former Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Head of Diplomatic Mission at the Embassy of Togo in Ankara, newly appointed as Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Head of Mission of the High Commission. The ceremony took place in the presence of the entire staff of the Mission.

In an atmosphere of fraternity, respect, and gratitude, Mr. FINTAKPA LAMEGA expressed his deep appreciation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY, and extended heartfelt thanks to all staff members for their support and collaboration throughout his tenure. He highlighted the significant progress achieved under his leadership, notably thesigning and entry into force, on 18 June 2024, of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Togo and the Government of the Republic of South Africa on visa exemption for holders of valid diplomatic and service passports.

Upon officially assuming office, Mr. BIDIALOU conveyed his sincere gratitude to H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY for the confidence placed in him and commended his predecessor for his dedication and commitment. He reaffirmed his determination to foster genuine and constructive collaboration with all staff members, emphasizing the importance of continuity and the sustained promotion of Togo’s presence and interests in South Africa and in the eleven other countries under the Mission’s jurisdiction, in support of the national objectives for economic and social development.
